Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: The Alison Mahay Interview
Note to self: The Athlete's Child - great new sitcom about four MLB wives who own a business together. Now, what kind of business? Car wash? No, too wet. Detective agency? Been done. Sexy lifeguards? Nope, won't play overseas. Hmm. I got it! A retail store with apparel for kids. There. Now we're getting there. What to call it... Four Chicks & A Henhouse? Nah, degrading. Boobs? No way, stay away from that. Hard to find four real blondes in Hollywood. Here's one: The Athlete's Child. Yes! That's it! Four MLB wives own and work together every day in The Athlete's Child, an upscale apparel store for kids. Hilarity ensues when their husbands return from the road expecting dinner on the table, a clean house, and cute little kids who don't talk back.
The Athlete's Child. Yeah, that's gonna be the next big hit.
In fact, The Athlete's Child isn't a situation comedy. It's a real store, physical & virtual, owned by real baseball wives Alison Mahay (wife of KC Royals pitcher Ron), Karen Varitek (ex-wife of Red Sox catcher Jason), Tatum Borowski (wife of Joe) and Kristin Mirabelli (wife of Doug). The store, on the web and in Arizona, is a retailer of clothes and accessories for your child. Or your friend's child. Or the child you hope to have one day.
How do I think up such fantastic stories? Because of the Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Interview with Alison Mahay. When you take a few minutes to listen below, you're going to hear this firecracker of a lady (I've never used that description before and don't expect to again) talk all about how she, Karen, Tatum, and Kristin started the business and why. You know what? Here's where you can find everything you want to know about Alison Mahay and her life.
Aisle 1
Alison talks all about The Athlete's Child - the who, what, where and when. She explains her passion for children's apparel, how her business is marketed, and how the four wives work together in the business.
Aisle 2 19:00
Less about The Athlete's Child and more about her life as a baseball wife. Moving, how they met, how she blew off some guy off to go on a date with Ron (and whether she ever called the guy back), meeting Ron and the roles among different baseball wives on a team.
Aisle 3 31:30
More about she and Ron and her pregnancies, how Ron couldn't (or can't if they're not done) pitch when she had a baby in her belly, the assignment to AAA Vancouver with a brand new baby, Alison's relationship to Ron's agent Keith Greenwald and her involvement when Ron takes on free agency.
Aisle 4 45:30
We close out our discussion talking about the community of baseball wives and Alison's thoughts on the death of Gabrielle Schoeneweis, wife to Diamondbacks pitcher Scott. Then I thank her for her time and she gives me a huge thank you in response.
So is there a sitcom here in the making? Or is the concept better than the execution? It's up to you to decide. So sit down, take a load off, and enjoy the Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Interview with Alison Mahay. That's why we did it for ya!
