The Dale Murphy Interview You Simply Must Hear!

"Now batting, Dale Murphy."

Imagine if this were any year between 1982 & 1987.  Those four words would strike fear into the hearts of opposing managers, fans, fielders and pitchers, but not in that order.  Dale Murphy was the quintessential (do you believe I'm actualy writing this?) powerhouse outfielder throughout the 1980s, winning back-to-back and belly-to-belly MVP awards in 1982 and 1983.  But he couldn't just hit.  No no.  Dale (we're on a first-name basis) could also catch.  Not necessarily behind the plate.  He was a lousy catcher.  Not a great first baseman either.  Centerfield was his home in the old Fulton County Stadium, back in the days when stadiums were still named after people and counties and not financially unstable corporate institutions, hello Enron Field.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, Dale could hit and field.  Five Gold Gloves.  He made it to the playoffs once, back in 1982.  Who was his manager then?  Answer at the bottom of this awful bio.

Nowadays (meaning today), Dale runs the I Won't Cheat! Foundation, an organization with the primary mission of leaving "the game better than we found it."  Think about that for a moment and you'll understand Dale Murphy a whole lot more.  He's a good man.  Has a pleasant demeanor.  Has never been arrested for a misdemeanor.  What more could we want from our heroes?  Maybe a couple home runs if we're sick.  He tells us about that, and more.  So put on your ears and close your eyes.  This is going to be a good one.
